Methodology

How an entry earns its place.

Canton Brain is an annotated shelf, not a directory. Every entry gets read against the same four axes, checked against one inclusion bar, and given a verdict in plain language. This page is the key to the tags you see on every entry.

// what gets scored

Four axes, not one number.

Each axis answers a different question. None of them collapse into a single score, because rigor and independence and audience fit are not the same kind of judgment.

Source rigor

How directly a report's claims trace to primary evidence, rather than to other people's summaries.

Primary-sourced Secondary-sourced Promotional
Disclosed independence

What the report itself discloses about who paid for it. Read from the disclosure, never inferred from tone.

Independent Disclosed-sponsored Self-published No disclosure found
Content type

What kind of report this is. A routing tag for finding things, not a judgment on quality.

Protocol/technical Tokenomics Institutional adoption Regulatory Market/RWA commentary
Audience fit

Who gets the most out of reading it. Powers the reading paths on the main shelf, not a ranking.

Institutional Developer Retail DYOR

// the bar

What it takes to be listed.

Two requirements, both of them, every time.

Named author or organization, in a published report or article

Anonymous threads, unattributed posts, and standalone social media posts don't qualify, however sharp the analysis or well-known the author. This is a shelf of documents, not a reading list of good tweets.

AND

One verifiable claim

Pure rewrites of other people's research, with nothing checkable added, don't qualify either.

// what's excluded

Reviewed, not listed.

Reports that miss the bar still show up, in a muted note rather than silently vanishing. Being left off is a placement too, and hiding it would let the shelf be accused of only surfacing favorable coverage.

Listed
Named research house report
Primary-sourcedInstitutional

Clears the bar. Gets a full annotated entry: verdict, context, tags.

Reviewed, not listed
Anonymous thread rewrite
No author found

Misses the bar. Held back, noted in the reviewed strip instead.

// corrections

How this gets fixed.

If a tag is wrong, show the public evidence and it gets corrected with a note, not a silent edit. No correction log entries yet, this page and the shelf both shipped 23 July 2026.

Disclosure. I hold Canton ecosystem positions, listed publicly on this site. Tags on this shelf describe what a report discloses about itself, not an accusation of bias, and nothing here is a recommendation to buy anything.
